What animals are considered 'exotics'?
Exotic animal refers to grass-eating or plant-eating, single-hoofed or cloven-hoofed mammals that are not indigenous or native to Texas and are known as ungulates, including animals from the deer and antelope families that landowners have introduced into this state. Includes, but is not limited to feral hog, Aoudad sheep, Axis deer, Elk, Sika deer, Fallow deer, Blackbuck antelope, Nilgai antelope, and Russian boar. Exotic fowl refers to any avian species that is not indigenous to this state, including ratites (emu, ostrich, rhea, cassowary, etc.). [Texas Parks & Wildlife - http://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/nongame-and-other-species]
When you do a search by species on AAE, the vast majority of the animals in our drop-down list would be considered 'exotics' in Texas and the U.S.
Check out 'Exotic Species' pages for more information on specific animals that you might be interested in.
Seasons, Licensing & Bag Limits for exotics?
- In Texas, exotic hunting can be conducted year around, including those for all horned exotics (which includes sheep and antelope species). However, the hunting for some species at various times of the year can be better and more successful than others. As a general rule, the best time to plan hunts for antlered deer species is from September through January [ex. the best hunting for axis deer is from late May through September]
- Out-of-state hunters: Must purchase an out-of-state license and have completed a hunter's education course. Cost of license for a 5-day Texas exotic hunting is $48 for nonresidents, unless you are less than 17 years of age which cost only $7. Texas Exotic Hunting Licenses are unlimited. Hunter's Ed courses are available online and cost $13-15.
- Texas residents must have a only have a valid hunting license and Hunter's Ed Certification (if born after Sept 2, 1971).
- There are no bag limits for exotic game animals
What are 'Hot Hunts'?
Our 'Hot Hunts' listings/section is made of hunt offerings & opportunities that are either significantly discounted or may only available for a limited time...or both. The hunts in the this section will come and go frequently...and may change week-to-week or even daily as they're snatched up or sold out.
If you can't check the page every day to see what's new, but would like to stay in the loop on new Hot Hunts or limited time deals, be sure and sign up for our newsletter (there is a quick signup form above the footer on almost any page on our site). We'll be sending real-time notifications, letting you know about special or discounted hunts recently added to the site.
What if I have to cancel my hunt?
Each Hunt Provider has set a specific cancellation period for each hunt they list, 24 hrs, 7 days or 30 days. This information can be easily found on the left side of each hunt listing). Once you have settled your deposit to reserve your hunt, you have until that specific period (24hrs, 7 or 30 days) to receive a full refund should you find yourself needing to cancel your trip. However, if you are inside of (example) 30 days of the start of your hunt, all hunt refunds, rescheduling, hunt changes will be through the Hunt Provider that you have your hunt booked with. By that time, you will have been given all of their contact information (name, address, phone, email, website, etc) and can discuss possible options for refunds, reschedules and future hunt credits.
How many hunts do you offer?
Literally 1000's. Only a very small portion of the hunts that we can hook you up with are listed and can be viewed in our 'Find A Hunt' directory. We partner with and can book hunts for dozens of the top Hunt Providers in Texas. Each one of them have anywhere from 5-50 different species of exotics to hunt...yet only a handful may appear on our website at a given time. Add to that hunts that can be customized for groups or additional activities or animals, and we start getting into the 10's of 1000's of unique exotic hunts.
We are Exotic Hunting Consultants and we realize that every hunters wants, needs and hunt wishes may be different. You may not find that "perfect hunt" as on option on our booking site, but we can still help you find it. Simply use our 'Need Help Booking?' form, email us - email@example.com or call us direct @ 1-844-GoHunt1 (464-8681). We're always available to help!
How do I become an 'Hunt Provider'?
We're always looking to grow our hunt listings/offerings for our site visitors. Partnerships with reputable ranches & outfitters are very important to us and we would like to help you get more exposure and introduce your operation to more hunters.
The best first step is call or email us - firstname.lastname@example.org; 1-844-GoHunt1 and let's see if joining AAE is a good fit for both of us. You can also 'Sign Up'/apply to be a Hunt Provider. Once we receive your information, we will contact you to talk in more detail about joining AAE.
We DO NOT book hunts with people or places that we do not know, have never hunted with before or have atleast visited or talked to in great length about their operation. Even then, we read reviews and get feedback from previous guests and hunters to ensure any operation meets our standards. This is simply part of our "quality assurance" for our hunters. Knowing that anyone they hunt with on our site is vetted, tusted and we can vouche for.
