Double Diamond Outfitters specializes in hunting Texas. We have common exotics such as axis deer, fallow deer, blackbuck, and red sheep as well as super exotics such as red stag, wildebeest, eland, addax, and scimitar-horned oryx. Double Diamond Outfitters works with several ranches ensuring that we always have quality animals available for our clients.  This is very important when hunting exotics as prices vary greatly depending on the size of the animal you are hunting.  All of our exotics are silver or gold medal animals and our prices are very competitive for that size animal.

The majority of the ranches where we hunt exotics are within 1 hour of the San Antonio International Airport. All of our ranches have nice lodges where we can easily accommodate individuals, groups, father/child combo, or the husband/wife combo. Since exotics can be hunted year around in Texas they make for great off season hunts, an addition to any whitetail or turkey hunt, as well as a less expensive option for the hunter looking for an alternative to whitetail.

Just Added – The Shonto Ranch

This ranch, consisting of 1,100 acres, is located just 8 miles SW of Kerrville.  They concentrate on Scimitar Horned Oryx, Axis and Blackbuck, and of course Whitetail.  The ranch currently holds the #10 Non-Typical SCI Axis, #12 Typical SCI Axis (it would be #7 Typ, but it’s in velvet) and #14 Typical Axis.  They have huge, world record class, axis and oryx.

“I would put there axis and oryx up against any ranch in the country!  We are typically killing 35+” axis with 12+” eye guards and 10+” caudal tines, 36+” oryx and blackbuck in the 17-18″ range”, says Wes Mundy, owner and operator of Double Diamond Outfiiters.

The ranch has 4 miles of river running through it as well as 10 stocked tanks.  Each year we stock rainbow trout in the 3-4 pound range and of course there’s bass, perch and catfish.  Hunters stay in one of the houses on the ranch, the “Creek House”, which sits atop a hill overlooking the river/creek and has a big back porch with a great view of the river.  There’s a big covered pavilion area right on the banks of the river with a hot tub, full kitchen with tables/chairs and bbq pits, outdoor stereo.  All of this overlooks a beautiful swimming area in the river with concrete steps and handrail to provide easy access.  This is one of the most beautiful ranches in Texas and has exceptional animals.  Definitely 5 star and can easily handle corporate groups, and families as well as individual hunters.  We can accommodate bow hunts as well as rifle/pistol hunts.

Hunting prices for the Shonto Ranch are as follows:

Blackbuck (18-19″) – $2000

1 addax bull that’s about 35″, real heavy horns and perfectly symmetrical $4000
Oryx (34-35″) – $2000
Orxy (29″ & less meat hunts) – $1500
Axis (typically 35+”) - $2750

Daily Fee – $350/hunter/day – includes exclusive use of the ranch and all facilities, guide, meals, lodging, fishing, field care of your animal(s) and transportation around ranch (of course these daily rates are negotiable depending on the size of the group, number of animals killed, etc etc)
