Mr. Whitetail w/ Mr. Blue Bull
Larry Weishuhn, affectionately known in most hunting circles as “Mr. Whitetail”, recently took a break from chasing some of Texas’ most popular native game, the whitetail deer, to try his hand at some exotic game hunting in South Texas. In late April, Larry made a trip to the H. Yturria Ranch in attempt to take one of the most infamous exotic trophies in the lower half o the state, the nilgai antelope (aka “the blue bull”).
When Larry told us about his upcoming hunting trip, there was little doubt in our minds that he would find himself successful in accomplishing his goal. As fate would have it, our intuition was correct and Larry returned home as the proud owner of this monstrous nilgai bull! Congrats, Larry! There’s a reason that you’re a Texas hunting legend…!!

It’s been a busy Spring at Brushy Creek Outdoors. Lots of big exotics have hit the dirt. We wanted to share a few with you…
Ruben Garza of San Antonio, Texas, took this magnificent axis buck (left) in full velvet this past weekend. The buck sports 33″ main beams and had a 26 & 1/2″ inside spread. Brushy Creek owner, Glen Molitor told us that Ruben had been chasing a big axis for two years and as a result of this hunt he left a “happy camper”!
Hunter, Eric Click was equally successful. He was fortunate enough to harvest a unique red stag (right) that possessed a double crown. A tremendous trophy for any exotic lover!
