Exotic Ranch Spotlight: The 4N Ranches

This month’s Featured Ranch(es) are the 4N Ranches located just outside of San Angelo, Texas.  The 4N name actually encompasses 2 ranches, The Ridge View Ranch & Paisano Ranch, totaling 3,500 big Texas acres.  The 4N Ranches currently offer a wonderful variety of trophy exotics including axis deer, fallow deer, blackbuck antelope, scimitar oryx, gemsbok oryx, pere david deer, red deer, elk, red lechwe, white-bearded gnus, zebras and greater kudu.

Two different hunting experiences are offered, depending on the hunter’s desires – fully guided hunts for any species listed above, with help determining size and guidance on pricing on the Paisano Ranch OR fair chase hunts with direction but not one on one guiding (includes axis deer, blackbuck antelope and fallow deer hunting) on the Ridge View Ranch. In either option, they provide state of the art cleaning facilities with electric hoists, a large walk-in cooler and freezers that allow us to prepare your animal for taxidermy and processing.

4N offers first class accommodations, three mouthwatering meals per day, snacks, water and soft drinks. Basic cost is $275.00 per day to cover lodging, meals and guide fees. Animals are priced separately.  Also, be sure to take advantage of a few of their seasonal specials.

Rusty Baker Outdoors Features Porter’s Exotics

Be sure to tune into the Pursuit Channel (channel 640 on Directv/240 on Dish) tonight @ 10pm (cst) as the Rusty Baker Outdoors TV Show heads to Flynn, Texas to hunt at one of our favorite ranches, Porter’s Exotics.  RBO show host Rusty Baker will be chasing scimitar-horned oryx with a bow and special guest Jackson Hewitt (age 11) has a chance to harvest a monster white fallow buck (pictured below)!

A Young Hunter’s Day at Porter’s

Thanks to Gina Hewitt and her 11-year old son, Jackson for submitting the story of Jackson’s recent fallow deer hunt at Porter’s Exotics near Flynn, Texas, filmed for the Rusty Baker Outdoors TV Show.  This is Jackson’ account of the  a great weekend of hunting with new-found friends…

When we arrived at Porter’s Exotics on Dec 17th, we were met by CP Wade and Mr & Mrs Porter. CP showed us where we’d be staying and we unloaded our things.  He took me & my mom for a quick tour of the ranch.  We kinda got to know each other as we stopped by the bait tank to pickup a little bait, then off to do some cat fishing.  I caught a nice big catfish.  After fishing, we went back to the bunkhouse and waited for Rusty & “Robdawg”. Once they got there we all talked and got ready for dinner.

Mr. & Mrs. Porter took us all out for an amazing steak dinner.  I got to ride with all the guys and my mom drove Mrs. Porter there and back.  Once our dinner settled we went varmint hunting.  That was so much fun.  I shot a raccoon and a skunk.  When we got back, my mom let me hang out with all the guys while she read a book.  I had so much fun as we told jokes and talked about hunting.

We got up early Saturday morning and drove into town and had breakfast at the store.  Rusty really had us laughing there.  Afterwards, we went back to the ranch.  We were going to hunt the afternoon, but the plan changed and we went ahead and hunted right then…
