Red deer and sika breeders in Texas have new regulations to follow if they purchase either one of the species from out of state.
The Texas Animal Health Commission announced that effective immediately it has determined that Red deer (Cervus elaphus), and Sika deer (Cervus nippon) are “susceptible species” for Chronic Wasting Disease and therefore must meet the same entry requirements as other cervid species regulated by the agency such as elk and moose.
The new entry rules for Red deer and Sika deer will require they originate from herds with at least five years of participation in a herd certification program from states where CWD has been detected, and at least three years participation in programs from states that have not found CWD thus far.

Two different hunting experiences are offered, depending on the hunter‚Äôs desires ‚Äď fully guided hunts for any species listed above, with help determining size and guidance on pricing on the Paisano Ranch OR fair chase hunts with direction but not one on one guiding (includes axis deer, blackbuck antelope and fallow deer hunting) on the Ridge View Ranch. In either option, they provide state of the art cleaning facilities with electric hoists, a large walk-in cooler and freezers that allow us to prepare your animal for taxidermy and processing.
4N offers first class accommodations, three mouthwatering meals per day, snacks, water and soft drinks. Basic cost is $275.00 per day to cover lodging, meals and guide fees. Animals are priced separately.¬† Also, be sure to take advantage of a few of their seasonal specials.
