The TTHA Extravaganza was teaming with big name hunting celebs, experts, and personalities. Maybe none more exciting than one of the exotic world’s most influential people (and founder of Record of Exotics scoring system), Thompson Temple. AAE’s own Craig Ellwanger ran into the man behind the popular exotic scoring system at his booth and was able to chat for a bit. Mr. Temple shared a few pics of a new ram cross that was a result of interbreeding of Rocky Mountain bighorn and mouflan sheep that are being coined “Hill Country Bighorns”. The overall size of these cross breeds (weighing upwards of 250 pounds) and massive horns are impressive, to say the least.

Along with maintaining a successful scoring system that publishes every year (most others pub every 3 years) Thompson Temple also offers ram hunts on his South Texas ranch. His ads have been a mainstay in the Journal of the Texas Trophy Hunters magazine for as long as most of us can remember. He offers a very affordable hunt that several hunters have told us is a fun and challenging adventure. On another note: We will soon be offering the “R.O.E Top Ten” book that showcases the 10 highest scoring trophies for every exotic species measured using Thompson Temple’s scoring system.
